The art of Japanese calligraphy (Shodo) is deeply rooted in the historical evolution of Chinese characters (kanji).Understanding the progression of the five core scripts provided me with a foundation of this art form. Historically, these scripts evolved in response to the changing needs of society—shifting from ancient religious engravings to bureaucratic efficiency, and ultimately blossoming into art.
Rendered in expressive Sosho (Cursive/Grass Script).
Zen truth: that enlightenment is not found in a distant temple, but within one’s own resolve.
